MOTORCYCLE TOURS FOR EVERYONE

MOTORCYCLE TOURS PERU

Peru, located on the western coast of South America, is a country of diverse landscapes that offer exceptional opportunities for motorcyclists and off-road enthusiasts. Bordering Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, and Chile, its territory encompasses beautiful Pacific coastlines, majestic Andean mountains, and the mysterious Amazon jungle.

Peru offers countless routes passing through various geographical and cultural zones. Motorcyclists can experience thrilling rides on high-altitude routes in the Andes, where narrow switchbacks and impressive heights are the norm—many popular passes are situated above 4,000 meters above sea level. Riding these trails provides breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, and forgotten villages. For those seeking greater challenges, off-road riding through desert areas along the coast, like the famous Nazca Desert or deep into the Amazon, offers unforgettable experiences.

The destinations we visit during our motorcycle adventure tours are carefully selected, but each route may differ depending on the specific expedition. No matter which Peru tour you choose, you will always have the chance to explore the most beautiful and spectacular corners of Peru!

REGIONS AND PLACES TO DISCOVER DURING UNFORGETTABLE PERU TOURS

Cusco Region

The heart of the former Inca Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cusco is a must-see destination. Besides exploring the Inca capital, you can discover the Sacred Valley with its mysterious ruins in Ollantaytambo and Pisac, as well as charming villages full of authentic atmosphere. Cusco is the starting point of any journey to Machu Picchu—a magical and monumental site that attracts adventure enthusiasts and Inca culture lovers.

Sacred Valley of the Incas

Lima is also a perfect starting point for further Peru tours, offering a great first impression before exploring the country.

Arequipa

Puno Region and Lake Titicaca

The highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca offers not only breathtaking landscapes but also local cultures and unique floating islands of Uros. The city of Puno is an ideal base for trips to Isla del Sol or Isla Taquile, where you can explore traditional ways of life.

Madre de Dios Region (Amazonia)

Situated on the northern coast, Piura offers popular beaches like Máncora, perfect for vacations, surfing, and ocean relaxation.

MOTORCYCLE TOURS PERU – HIGHLIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS ALONG THE ROUTES

Peru offers a variety of unique sites and attractions that await you along the motorcycle routes. Here are some of the most remarkable places to explore:

Salineras de Maras

Located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, these salt pans consist of thousands of terraced salt pools that have been used since pre-Columbian times. This picturesque site is an unusual stop along the route, where you can learn about the traditional methods of salt extraction.

Laguna Humantay

This turquoise lake at the base of the Humantay Glacier captivates visitors with its beauty and is one of the lesser-known gems of the Peruvian Andes. It’s a perfect spot for trekking enthusiasts and nature photographers.

Huascarán National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this park is a paradise for off-road enthusiasts and trekkers. It features numerous peaks, lakes, and trails that traverse the stunning landscapes of the Cordillera Blanca.

Apurímac Canyon

One of the deepest canyons in the world, even deeper than the Colca Canyon. Apurímac Canyon offers spectacular views and is home to wild condors. It’s an ideal destination for hiking and experiencing wild nature.

Tres Cruces de Oro (Golden Sunrise)

On the edge of Manu National Park, there is a viewpoint called Tres Cruces, where you can witness an extraordinary optical phenomenon known as the “Golden Sunrise.” This unique spectacle can be seen early in the morning from June to July, when the sun appears to be divided into two luminous circles.

Tambopata Reserve

Located in the Madre de Dios region, this reserve is a treasure trove of Amazonian wildlife, full of exotic bird species, plants, and animals. Boat trips on the Tambopata River offer the chance to see river dolphins, toucans, and monkeys.

Chachapoyas and Kuelap

In northern Peru, amidst the mountains, lie the ruins of Kuelap, known as the “Machu Picchu of the North.” It’s one of the largest and least-known archaeological sites in Peru, surrounded by picturesque cloud forests.

Paracas National Reserve and Ballestas Islands

The Paracas Reserve features scenic cliffs and desert landscapes, intertwined with the Pacific Ocean coastline. The nearby Ballestas Islands, often called the “Peruvian Galapagos,” are inhabited by penguins, sea lions, and numerous bird species.

Huacachina Oasis

This picturesque oasis nestled in the desert is surrounded by high sand dunes, making it a perfect destination for sandboarding and buggy tours.

Las Totoritas in Piura

Near the beaches of Máncora, Totoritas is where you can see unique totora reed fields. These reeds have been used by locals for centuries to build traditional boats called Caballitos de Totora.

Trekking through the Inca Strait Valley (Choquequirao)

A challenging, multi-day trek to the Choquequirao ruins, known as the “sister of Machu Picchu.” Choquequiraooffers breathtaking views, and the number of tourists here is much lower compared to Machu Picchu.

Raqchi – Temple of Wiracocha

One of the lesser-known yet fascinating archaeological sites in the Andes. The Temple of Wiracocha in Raqchi is one of the largest religious complexes of the Incas, located on the popular route between Cusco and Puno.

Quilca – Rock Drawing Trails

On the coast near Arequipa, you can discover rock carvings and petroglyphs depicting animals and human figures. This little-known spot is perfect for those interested in pre-Columbian art.

Pomacochas and Gocta Waterfall

One of the tallest waterfalls in the world, Gocta is located in the Amazonas region. This site is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, and the journey to it leads through extraordinary landscapes and picturesque villages.

WEATHER AND CLIMATE IN PERU

Peru is located in a diverse climatic zone, consisting of three main regions—coast, mountains, and jungle—each with its own unique climate.

Coast

The coastal region, stretching from Lima to the Chile border, has a dry and moderate climate. During winter (May to September), temperatures are lower and accompanied by mist known as garúa, while summer (December to March) is warm and sunny.

Andes

The mountainous Andes region is characterized by a high-altitude climate. Temperatures are more variable—warm days and cold nights, with freezing temperatures at higher elevations. The dry season from May to October is the best time for trekking as rainfall is rare, and visibility is excellent. The rainy season lasts from November to April.

Amazon Jungle

Peruvian Amazonia has a tropical climate, with high temperatures and humidity all year round. The rainy season from November to April brings heavy rain, while the dry season (May to October) is the best time for exploration as the trails are more accessible.

PERUVIAN CUISINE

Peruvian cuisine is a fascinating fusion of flavors resulting from the combination of indigenous, Spanish, African, Chinese, and Japanese influences. It is diverse and based on local products such as corn, potatoes, fish, and exotic fruits.

  • Ceviche: The symbol of Peruvian cuisine, made from raw fish marinated in lime juice with onions, cilantro, and hot peppers. On the coast, ceviche is the freshest and most aromatic.

  • Lomo Saltado: A popular meat dish combining Peruvian and Chinese cooking techniques. It consists of beef stir-fried with tomatoes, onions, and spices, served with fries and rice.

  • Aji de Gallina: A creamy chicken dish cooked with yellow aji pepper, milk, nuts, and spices, served with rice and potatoes.

  • Cuy (Guinea Pig): A traditional Andean dish, especially popular in Cusco and Arequipa. Cuy is roasted or fried and often served whole.

  • Anticuchos: Grilled beef heart skewers, seasoned and served as a popular street food.

  • Chicha Morada: A popular drink made from purple corn boiled with pineapple, cinnamon, and cloves, then sweetened. It has a rich color and a slightly sweet flavor.

TESTIMONIALS

“Moto Birds were life savers for us! After riding over 43,000 miles across The Americas, our rear shock snapped on the border between Chile and Argentina in Tierra Del Fuego. Moto Birds had put on an extra shipping container from Chile to Poland, and emailed us about it with a great price. We had to leave due to coronavirus but Moto Birds managed to move our immobile bike from Punta Arenas to Santiago to ensure it could get home. We were given the details to track the bike when it was on the containership, and Moto Birds kept us updated with progress. In Poland customs asked for another piece of documentation we hadn’t provided, and Agata helped me through finding it and fixed the problem. The bike was then delivered from Poland to the UK where it arrived exactly how we had left it, including all our bags. They are a friendly team, always there for guidance and information. And the price was unbeatable for us! Thank you again, we are so glad to have our bike home and it wouldn’t have been possible without Moto Birds.”

18.07.2020 / TRANSPORT INDYWIDUALNY

“Parę dni temu miałam ogromną przyjemność dołączyć do szkolenia organizowanego przez Aleksandra Trzaskowska i jej Moto Birds Z jeszcze większą przyjemnością chciałam napisać słów parę i nieco się podzielić. Bo warto bardzo. Profesjonalizm.

Właśnie wróciłem z podróży do Patagonii.

“Motobirds Himalayas 2019 with the terrific company and energy of round the world explorer Kinga “on her bike “ Tanajewska. Extremely well planned trip of a lifetime. Aleksandras “ola” knowledge and experience got us under the skin and into the heart of this incredible region. When trips run this smoothly they have been very well researched and planned. Great “mind, body and bike “ support crew, the wonderful Dr Mat and his engineers – sounds like a band!- never far away. Embrace this journey as someone who lives there and you will be well rewarded with everything a Himalayas adventure ride has to give. I rode a once in a lifetime experience with incredible new friends, made life long memories. I saw things that photos just can not show but here’s some to show the spirit of our adventures ,not all mine. Thanks for all the photo sharing. Thank you Ola. I can not wait for the next time I get to put on a Motobirds T and ride with you.”
