MOTORCYCLE TOURS BHUTAN

Bhutan, picturesquely located in the heart of the Himalayas, is one of the most mysterious and untouched countries in Asia. This small nation, situated between China and India, is famous for its breathtaking landscapes – from high mountain passes to lush green valleys. Bhutan, the country of “Gross National Happiness,” enchants not only with its natural beauty but also with its unique culture, where Buddhism permeates every aspect of daily life.

Bhutan is slowly opening up to the world, maintaining its mysterious, distinct rhythm. The first motorized vehicle arrived here in 1961, and a few years later, in the late 1960s, the famous “Heavenly Road of a Thousand Turns” was completed — the only paved east-west highway, just 3.5 meters wide. Radio broadcasts began in 1973, while television only appeared in 1999, just before the introduction of the Internet in 2000. The first tourists visited Bhutan in 1974, discovering the beauty of this extraordinary kingdom.

Motorcycle Routes in Bhutan – Adventure in the Himalayas

Bhutan is a perfect destination for a motorcycle trip. Mountain passes reaching 3,000 meters, winding, challenging roads, and steep slopes provide truly mountainous challenges. Classic routes lead from the western part of the country, often starting from Paro and Thimphu through central regions like Punakha or Trongsa, all the way to the more remote eastern provinces. Riding through Dochula Pass at an altitude of 3,100 meters offers breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayan panorama.

Why Bhutan is the Ideal Place for a Motorcycle Tour?

  • Pristine Landscapes and Diverse Routes: Bhutan enchants with its varied landscapes – from lush green valleys, through high mountain passes, to mystical temples in mountainous regions. Motorcycle riding allows you to intensely experience these changes, feel close to nature, and discover unknown corners.

  • Off-Road Trails and Incredible Terrain Challenges: Bhutanese roads often shift from paved highways to gravel roads, giving the impression of a true journey through a “wild” country. On off-road trails, you will experience intense challenges, navigating ruts and muddy tracks, providing unforgettable thrills and testing your skills.

  • Rich Culture and Spirituality: Bhutan is a kingdom of Buddhism. Along the route, you will encounter Buddhist monasteries, colorful prayer flags, and sacred places like the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktshang), perched on steep cliffs. Such a journey is also an opportunity to meet incredibly friendly locals.

  • Nature Conservation and Preservation of Tradition: Bhutan is known for preserving over 70% of its land area as forests, with nature conservation as a top priority. Regulations limiting the number of tourists ensure that a motorcycle tour in Bhutan remains an intimate and authentic experience.

The places you will visit during your motorcycle adventure are carefully selected, but each route may vary depending on the specific tour. No matter which trip you choose, you will always have the opportunity to discover the most beautiful and spectacular corners of Bhutan!

TESTIMONIALS

“Moto Birds were life savers for us! After riding over 43,000 miles across The Americas, our rear shock snapped on the border between Chile and Argentina in Tierra Del Fuego. Moto Birds had put on an extra shipping container from Chile to Poland, and emailed us about it with a great price. We had to leave due to coronavirus but Moto Birds managed to move our immobile bike from Punta Arenas to Santiago to ensure it could get home. We were given the details to track the bike when it was on the containership, and Moto Birds kept us updated with progress. In Poland customs asked for another piece of documentation we hadn’t provided, and Agata helped me through finding it and fixed the problem. The bike was then delivered from Poland to the UK where it arrived exactly how we had left it, including all our bags. They are a friendly team, always there for guidance and information. And the price was unbeatable for us! Thank you again, we are so glad to have our bike home and it wouldn’t have been possible without Moto Birds.”

18.07.2020 / TRANSPORT INDYWIDUALNY

“Parę dni temu miałam ogromną przyjemność dołączyć do szkolenia organizowanego przez Aleksandra Trzaskowska i jej Moto Birds Z jeszcze większą przyjemnością chciałam napisać słów parę i nieco się podzielić. Bo warto bardzo. Profesjonalizm.

Właśnie wróciłem z podróży do Patagonii.

“Motobirds Himalayas 2019 with the terrific company and energy of round the world explorer Kinga “on her bike “ Tanajewska. Extremely well planned trip of a lifetime. Aleksandras “ola” knowledge and experience got us under the skin and into the heart of this incredible region. When trips run this smoothly they have been very well researched and planned. Great “mind, body and bike “ support crew, the wonderful Dr Mat and his engineers – sounds like a band!- never far away. Embrace this journey as someone who lives there and you will be well rewarded with everything a Himalayas adventure ride has to give. I rode a once in a lifetime experience with incredible new friends, made life long memories. I saw things that photos just can not show but here’s some to show the spirit of our adventures ,not all mine. Thanks for all the photo sharing. Thank you Ola. I can not wait for the next time I get to put on a Motobirds T and ride with you.”
